Study: Companies Benefit When CFO Is On The Board

A study by Bentley University professors shows corporate boards benefit when the company CFO is a director. Few CFOs now serve as directors, in large part because of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations that call for a majority of board members to be independent directors. "Very consistently, our results show it's good to have the CFO on the board with respect to financial reporting quality," said Bentley University professor Rani Hoitash, a co-author of the study.
