U.S. Unemployment Rate Dropped to 5.9% in September

Nonfarm payrolls were up 248,000 in September, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics today. This was a bit above economists’ expectations of around 220,000. The unemployment rate decreased to 5.9% from 6.1%. The number of jobs added in July and August was revised upward as well.
